Identity, Illustrated Map, Icons, Way Finding and Signage
The Brief
We were asked to design an illustrated map of ‘The Lakes’ estate to guide visitors to their accommodation. The properties are available to own or to rent in a lakeside location set in 850 acres of Cotswolds countryside. Working on GPS co-ordinates, the map was also translated into a digital format for use in the ‘The Lakes’ app. We also created a suite of icons for use in the app, working to the estate brand guidelines.
We were also asked to provide signage and wayfinding to guide visitors and clients around the estate and facilities. We wanted to work to the ethos of the Lakes and produced signage in keeping with the natural environment. We used local craftsmen, who laser cut our designs into steel and treated them to become oxidised to give a very rustic feel and blend with the beautiful natural surroundings.
The clients were so happy with the designs created for the signage, they used them as part of the ‘The Lakes’ visual language.
